What the heck is an illnessdoula? Well, a doula is traditionally a birth attendant. Study after study has shown improved outcomes when the same person is present through out labor and delivery. I believe this applies to all life crisises and health struggles. As an Illnessdoula, I will be your health attendant, maximizing your health outcome, walking with you to wellness.
Illnessdoula services can vary as client and doula decide. They all begin with a consultation which is usually an hour. The doula and client may then proceed with long -range planning or action plans; such as accompaniment to doctors’ appointments, surgeries, or visiting care facilities.

I’m having a surgery
Illnessdoula can coach you through diagnosis, surgery prep, the actual day and recovery steps. Not everyone has someone who can be present at the bedside, I can do that.
I’ve had a life changing event
Illnessdoula will walk with you as you cross the bridge of lifestyle changes. Illnessdoula can help you here in Seattle, I can coordinate with your family if they can’t be here to help.
i want to make plans for my passing
Illnessdoula can help with legacy planning, considering end of life options and executing a vigil. I can listen to what matters to you. A doula helps the whole community when a person dies.

Can we talk? Give me a call, I talk to people all the time, trying to figure out if working with a doula is right for them. Sometimes the consultation is enough. Illnessdoula can help you organize your thoughts and create a plan to achieve wellness. A consultation usually lasts one hour and costs $75
walk
As an illnessdoula, I can accompany you through this health experience. I can provide transport to office visits, procedures, or be the responsible party when you are discharged from a hospital. I can be a note taker and a second set of eyes and ears. Illnessdoula can evaluate your home space and coordinate applications that will speed your recovery. Illnessdoula makes home visits intermittently or daily if required. After the consultation, hourly rates begin. Hospital, clinic and home visits $200/hr, phone consultation $100/hr, doula research $75/hr.
