Donate Blood: Give the Gift of Life and Get Your Covid Antibody Status

I don’t know about you but, I have been frustrated wanting to help people fighting the COVID virus. Now there is something we can do.

A treatment being explored for COVID-19 is the use of convalescent plasma collected from individuals who have recovered from COVID-19.  Convalescent plasma that contains antibodies to severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 or SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19) is being studied for administration to patients with COVID-19. Use of convalescent plasma has been studied in outbreaks of other respiratory infections, including the 2003 SARS-CoV-1 epidemic, the 2009-2010 H1N1 influenza virus pandemic, and the 2012 MERS-CoV epidemic. It’s as if your successful army is transfused to someone else to wage war on the virus.

Donating plasma is a lot like donating blood. If you think of you blood as soup; the cells are like the vegetables and dumplings, the plasma is like the broth. So you donate whole blood, they spin out the stuff, keep the plasma and give you back the stuff. I’ve done it twice, If I can do it, anyone can. FUR SHURE
