The COVID Vaccine May Be Here Next Week
LAST NIGHT FDA granted historic authorization to a Covid-19 vaccine, setting stage for rollout
The Food and Drug Administration on Friday issued an emergency authorization for a Covid-19 vaccine developed by Pfizer and its German partner, BioNTech, a seminal moment in the effort to curb a pandemic that has so far infected an estimated 16 million people and killed nearly 300,000 in the U.S.
COVID-19 vaccines help our bodies develop immunity to the virus that causes COVID-19 without us having to get the illness. Different types of vaccines work in different ways to offer protection, but with all types of vaccines, the body is left with a supply of “memory” T-lymphocytes as well as B-lymphocytes that will remember how to fight that virus in the future.
It typically takes a few weeks for the body to produce T-lymphocytes and B-lymphocytes after vaccination. Therefore, it is possible that a person could be infected with the virus that causes COVID-19 just before or just after vaccination and then get sick because the vaccine did not have enough time to provide protection.
Sometimes after vaccination, the process of building immunity can cause symptoms, such as fever. These symptoms are normal and are a sign that the body is building immunity.
So even though some trial participants reported Covid-like symptoms, it is impossible to contract the coronavirus from the vaccine, because the mRNA vaccines that Pfizer and Moderna are making don’t use the live virus.
There are steps we can take, to help the vaccine work.
Be well rested when you receive the vaccine and for 2 weeks after. You need to be rested so your “factory” can produce memory cells. Commit to this by, setting an alarm to go to bed, versus waking you up. Each night as you are falling asleep yoga Nidra with the montra; grow memory cells grow, fight this virus as you go.
Be well hydrated. I don’t know about you, but the pandemic has me hitting the nesspresso like hourly. My cells are most likely little shriveled beans. Hydrate to plump those those guys up. Th easiest measure of hydration is the color of your urine. It should be clear, not day glow yellow and not color of tea.
Stay mask vigilant. Each of us will grow our memory cells at a different rate, so we will be vulnerable to COVID until we reach heard immunity. MASK UP, save on lipstick.
Illnessdoula yourself out of this mess!
